International artist-in-residence programs provide the unique opportunity for artists and curators to spend several months abroad, working within a professional milieu. The goal of such programs is to facilitate the international networking of the residents and their exchange with the local art scene, providing appropriate working conditions and the possibility of international presentation, through which artists and curators may have significant opportunities for career development.

ACAX has initiated and established connections and long-term partnerships with the most significant international artist-in-residence centres in order to enable Hungarian artists to work in Berlin, in London or in New York, coming into direct contact with the most progressive contemporary art practices.  Following the launch of these partnerships, ACAX organizes the professional and practical co-ordination of public grants and awards, financially supports the participation of successful applicants, or helps them to raise the necessary funds.
